Ampex ATR700 (Ampex) 1977

This machine was built by Teac for Ampex, the machine bears strong resemblance to the Teac series A-7300, also the Tascam range 25-2 (Tascam being a pro line of Teac), Teac did bring this machine out in their own name but without balanced inputs and outputs. This machine was sold in October 1977, it was a much smaller and cheaper rival to the large trolley machines they where use to selling, these where not only sold in the USA but in England and around the globe. This recorder had some unusual features, there is a three stage Bias setting on this recorder to be able to quickly set this machine up for different makes of tape, also a three stage input level control, though the inputs are variable it has a second attenuation. This machine was kindly donated to Vintage recorders by Mr. Dave Lambert, an ex Ampex member of the British sales group.
